McCarther Prep is a family business born out of the need to provide summer fun and learning for their autistic son. They struggled to find any local camps that could support his specific needs. As a result, they became dedicated to providing an enriching, inclusive, and fun summer experience for neurodiverse children aged 8 to 17. There is a number of children diagnosed with some form of neurodiversity - be it ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, or other learning differences - the need for specialized programs that cater to these unique minds is more pressing than ever. However, opportunities for such targeted, beneficial summer programs have been conspicuously absent, leaving a significant gap in our community's fabric.
We have designed our summer program to bridge this gap, offering a summer camp experience that celebrates neurodiversity and fosters personal growth, social skills, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
The benefits of summer camps for all children are well-documented, but they are especially critical for neurodiverse youth. They provide structured, supportive environments where kids can explore interests, develop independence, and build social skills - all of which are integral to their overall development and well-being. Our camp does this and more, with a focus on understanding and accommodating the unique needs and strengths of each camper.
Our team is composed of qualified professionals with backgrounds in education, special needs teaching, counseling, and related fields, ensuring each camper receives the necessary individual attention and support. We maintain a low camper-to-staff ratio and offer a wide range of activities tailored to our campers' abilities and interests. Our camp serves not only as a haven for neurodiverse children but also as a springboard for their growth and self-discovery.
